About the Instructor/Director

Ellis Jacobson is a visual artist, theater artist, and arts educator. He has toured and performed internationally and has directed fully-staged puppet opera with award winning soloists from the Metropolitan Opera and the New York City Opera. His sculpted masks have been featured in performances in the United States, France, Italy, and Mexico - including the ancient ruins of Monte Alban where his 10-foot sculpted mask appeared atop the pyramids. The Vermont Times Argus called his 2014 original solo comedy, Adapted from Samuel Beckett, “elegant and effective”, “more than entertaining, it was touching”. He was the founder and gallerist of the Artpath Gallery in Burlington, Vermont 2002-2009 - “this narrow gallery should be considered a destination..."-Marc Awodey, Seven Days, 2008. He was a trustee of the T. W. Wood Gallery in Montpelier, Vermont for a number of years where he was the Chair of the Visual Arts Committee and frequent curator. Jacobson has been a curator/presenter and lecturer at the Provincetown Arts Association and Museum. He is a graduate of Goddard College where he received teacher certification for elementary education. He has been an innovator of arts education and creative group play for many years. He has been an Artist in Residence with the Vermont Arts Council and has been instructor, coordinator and director for a variety of after school programs in Central Vermont. He was founder, director, and instructor of After School Arts at the T.W. Wood Gallery 2016- 2020.
